Ambassador Biography

His Excellency Francisco Neto António Novela, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Mozambique to the Kingdom of Sweden, presented his credentials to His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden on May 22, 2026. He is the seventh ambassador of Mozambique to Sweden.

He holds a degree in Business Administration from the Infante Dom Henrique University of Porto, Portugal. He has a postgraduate degree in Econometric Studies from the University of Porto. He attended the International Relations and Diplomacy course at the Higher Institute of International Relations of Mozambique.

Until his appointment, His Excellency Francisco Neto António Novela served as Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Mozambique, where he also served as Inspector-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation from 2013 to 2020.

From 1999 to 2003, he served as Vice-Consul General of the Republic of Mozambique in the city of Porto and the Northern Region of Portugal.
