On September 23rd, 2026, the Embassy of the Republic of Mozambique in Sweden received Mr. Bo Löfgren and Mr. Johan Frössling, Vice President and Managing Director of Dynamis Investment Partners, respectively. The meeting provided the company with an opportunity to present an update on the Alto Malema hydropower project, which is designed to integrate hydropower generation with solar energy.
According to the company’s representatives, the project aims to strengthen electricity supply in northern Mozambique, with a planned regional power capacity of 70 MW. The solar component is expected to complement hydropower generation and improve system resilience.
Dynamis reported that it had completed the preliminary design and initial grid connection studies, along with several technical site visits. The company also noted the signing of a joint development agreement with Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) and progress in the environmental and social assessment process.
The company identified further geological studies, preparation of the tender for the engineering and construction contractor, and continued negotiations on the agreements required for the project as its next steps. Under the preliminary timetable presented, construction is expected to begin in 2027, subject to completion of the studies, receipt of the necessary approvals, and financial close.
The Embassy noted that the Alto Malema HPP project demonstrates the potential for cooperation between Mozambique and Sweden in the energy sector. It also expressed interest in the project encouraging greater participation by Mozambican companies, creating jobs, and generating local value.
The Embassy reaffirmed its readiness to continue facilitating institutional dialogue among Dynamis Investment Partners, potential business partners in Sweden and other Nordic countries, and the relevant authorities in Mozambique. Such dialogue can help advance the stages outlined in the project timetable, in accordance with applicable procedures and requirements.
